# Revolut Tests Face-Recognition Payments in UK Before Wider Launch

Revolut is testing face-recognition payments in the United Kingdom, linking checkout transactions to biometric data customers submitted when they registered for their Revolut accounts.

The digital bank is initially rolling out the system exclusively through coffee chain Kiss the Hippo. Merchants will not pay a fee to use the service.

Customers’ faces are matched against the biometric information connected to their Revolut registrations during checkout. Revolut plans to expand availability later this year.

The pilot comes several weeks after a data breach that Revolut said involved an unauthorized third party and exposed sensitive information belonging to some customers.
