> Community member ugurmersin alleges the funds were converted into 344,780 COMP and used in votes on two governance proposals.

Compound community member ugurmersin accused the Compound Foundation of using 8.42 million DAI in DAO reserves to acquire COMP for governance votes, raising questions about control of the protocol’s treasury.

Proposal 536, approved in February, placed the DAI under foundation management for protocol operations and barred speculative trading or use for the foundation’s own operations. The funds remained the property of the DAO, according to the allegation.

On-chain records cited in the claim show the DAI was transferred to an exchange and converted into 344,780 COMP. The tokens were then delegated by signers of a related Safe multisig to the foundation’s own voting address, ugurmersin alleged. The COMP was returned to the Safe 58 minutes before voting ended on proposals 580 and 582.

Ugurmersin alleged that the voting power helped pass measures transferring nearly all of the DAO’s funds to TMC, with the foundation among TMC’s signers, as well as a $52 million V4 plan that benefited the foundation. The Compound Foundation had not publicly responded as of Sept. 28.
