> Samsung Electronics will provide $500 million, while five affiliates fund the balance as Helix expands data-center and power infrastructure.

Samsung Electronics and five affiliates will invest a combined $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, accelerating the Korean technology group’s push into data centers and the power systems needed to run artificial intelligence workloads.

Samsung Electronics will contribute $500 million. Samsung C&T, Samsung SDS, Samsung SDI, Samsung Life Insurance and Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance will provide the rest of the investment.

Helix, launched in June by KKR, focuses on hyperscale data centers, power generation, transmission and distribution infrastructure, and fiber-optic networks. The company is led by Adam Selipsky, the former CEO of Amazon Web Services.

KKR, Nvidia, the Kuwait Investment Authority and U.S. power company Vistra are founding investors. The new funding comes alongside more than $10 billion already committed to Helix.

Samsung said the investment will support the global rollout of AI data centers and expand cooperation among its affiliates, whose businesses include semiconductors, cooling systems, construction and batteries.
