> The Canadian company said the purchase equals about 5% of its estimated net asset value while retaining 11 Bitcoin and cash as its reserve foundation.

Digital Commodities has purchased approximately C$100,000 of Solana using part of its physical gold holdings, creating a separate digital-asset allocation while keeping Bitcoin and cash as its reserve foundation.

The Canadian public company announced the purchase Sept. 28, saying it represented about 5% of its estimated net asset value as of that date. The company did not disclose how much gold it sold or how many SOL tokens it acquired.

“Bitcoin remains the foundation of our treasury,” Digital Commodities Chief Executive Officer Brayden Sutton said.

The company said its reserve foundation consists of 11 Bitcoin (BTC) and cash. Solana (SOL) will instead be held in a separately governed allocation focused on digital assets that management believes could benefit from artificial-intelligence-related blockchain activity.

“We funded our initial Solana position by monetizing a portion of our physical gold holdings,” Sutton said.

Digital Commodities said the allocation will be built in stages and reviewed periodically by its board. Its stated reasons for selecting Solana include programmable finance, stablecoins, tokenization and high-throughput, low-cost transactions.

The company said future artificial-intelligence infrastructure allocations would not be funded by reducing its Bitcoin position without separate board approval and disclosure.

The transaction adds a digital asset to the company’s treasury without changing the stated role of Bitcoin as its reserve foundation. The company did not disclose the execution price, custody arrangement or transaction venue for the Solana purchase.

Digital Commodities trades under DIGI on the Canadian Securities Exchange and DGCMF on the OTCQB.
