> The test kept corporate customers on their usual banking workflows while Shinhan handled digital-asset transfers and settlement.

Shinhan Bank completed a proof of concept for stablecoin use in corporate overseas remittances, testing how bank-managed digital-asset transfers and settlement could fit into existing business workflows.

The modeled process covered counterparty registration and internal approvals, foreign-currency account verification, bank execution, settlement, recipient payment and returns. Companies used their existing banking and foreign-currency accounts, while Shinhan handled the digital-asset steps without requiring customers to hold wallets or stablecoins. The bank worked with the Solana Foundation on the technology.

The test addressed protection of transaction information while allowing transactions to be validated. Shinhan did not identify the stablecoin or disclose transaction volumes, fees or settlement times.

A Shinhan Bank spokesperson said the demonstration tested whether a new payment and settlement method could work within corporate remittance operations and the bank’s controls. The project was a technical demonstration, and Shinhan said it would review possible service applications in light of institutional and regulatory conditions.

The work is separate from Shinhan Card’s research into stablecoin payment technology and Web3 services, announced April 30, 2026. That initiative focuses on payment technology, while Shinhan Bank’s proof of concept covered corporate overseas transfers.
