# TSMC Shares Close at Record $485.95 as Terafab Talks Draw Attention

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. shares closed at $485.95 on Oct. 5, a record in historical price data. Musk posted, “Just discussions, but something may come of it,” on Oct. 3.

The U.S.-listed shares opened at $477.77, reached an intraday high of $487.45 and gained 2.786% from the previous close. TSMC is a contract chipmaker that produces semiconductors for other companies.

No deal, final partnership structure, specific TSMC role or production timeline has been confirmed.

A possible TSMC campus in Texas, with multiple fabrication plants and potential investment of tens of billions of dollars, is also unconfirmed. The Texas campus possibility has not been linked to Terafab.

TSMC’s third-quarter earnings conference is scheduled for Oct. 15 at 2 a.m. ET (0600 UTC).
