Edge Markets is building infrastructure for institutional trading on prediction markets that operate around the clock, with a payment feature designed to help cover margin calls when banks are closed and reduce avoidable liquidations.

The infrastructure will be available through Edge Pro, a service for market makers. Institutions will be able to set capital limits in advance, including daily transaction caps for trading algorithms and artificial intelligence agents. The product is expected to launch later this year.

A payment component called Edge Connect would let institutional traders pre-authorize a clearing house to collect additional collateral if an account falls below its required margin. A margin call is an alert that tells a trader to add funds after an account drops below the required margin benchmark.

The product addresses the gap between nonstop perpetual futures trading and traditional banking hours. Perpetual futures are derivative contracts with no expiration date, while banks do not operate around the clock.

Edge Markets is partnering with River Markets, ParlayX, OpenMarkets and Pikkit. Their clients will have access to the new product when it launches.
