> The proposed 2026 venture would connect digital-asset accounts and support crypto and stablecoin payments with ¥100 million in planned capital.

SBI Holdings, Mesh Connect and Money Forward plan to establish a Japan-based joint venture in 2026 to connect digital-asset accounts and support crypto and stablecoin payments.

The proposed company, Mesh SBI Money Forward Network KK, would begin with ¥100 million in capital. Mesh Connect would own 60%, while SBI Group would hold 26% and Money Forward would hold 14%.

The venture would consider tools that connect crypto exchanges and wallets, enable digital-asset purchases and transfers, and provide payment infrastructure using crypto assets and stablecoins. The companies also plan to examine tokenized-asset and digital-payment infrastructure for financial institutions and businesses.

For US crypto users and companies, the planned structure reflects a broader effort to link exchange and wallet accounts with payment services in Japan. The venture would focus on infrastructure and connectivity rather than a confirmed consumer payment product or specified launch program.

Mesh Connect, established in 2020, provides application programming interface infrastructure for crypto exchanges, wallets and other digital-asset services. Its platform integrates with more than 300 platforms. SBI would contribute its financial-services platform and regulatory experience, while Money Forward would support management and expansion in Japan.

The companies have reached a basic agreement, but the joint venture has not yet been established. Formation remains subject to definitive agreements, internal procedures and engagement with relevant authorities.

No transaction volume, revenue target, customer list or launch date was disclosed. The final business structure, technical requirements, regulatory approvals and timing remain to be determined as the companies work toward the planned 2026 establishment.
