> The companies signed an MOU to study overseas distribution, share custody and tokenization infrastructure, but have not announced specific stocks, a product or launch date.

Ondo Finance and Kakaopay Securities will study how to distribute and potentially tokenize South Korean-listed equities for overseas investors under a memorandum of understanding signed Sept. 28.

The initiative expands on [the companies’ earlier exploration of a global gateway to South Korean stocks](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/25213>), but does not represent the launch of a tradable product. No specific stocks, pricing, distribution jurisdictions or commercial launch date have been announced.

The agreement covers three workstreams: an international distribution framework, research into tokenization infrastructure and a joint task force focused on opportunities for overseas retail investors.

Kakaopay Securities plans to source, custody and administer the underlying shares through a foreign-investor omnibus account. The account structure would allow the companies to manage share holdings for investors outside South Korea while they examine systems for issuing and redeeming tokens.

The companies also plan to study balance management and reconciliation between tokenized assets and the underlying equities. The proposed arrangement would link Kakaopay Securities’ Korean equity infrastructure with Ondo Finance’s network for distributing tokenized financial assets.

“Global demand for investment opportunities in Korean companies continues to grow rapidly, yet access channels for overseas retail investors remain limited,” Chung Inyoung, executive vice president of Kakaopay Securities, said.

The planned joint task force would be established later in 2026. Its work would include developing operating frameworks for share sourcing and custody while continuing research into tokenized-equity infrastructure.

Any commercial product would depend on applicable laws, regulatory guidance and investor-protection principles in South Korea and the countries where it is distributed.

“South Korea is one of the most sophisticated digital asset markets in the world, and a critical market for Ondo as we expand access to tokenized financial assets,” Matthieu de Vergnes, managing director and global head of institutional at Ondo Finance, said.
