Brazil’s B3 is developing infrastructure for tokenized assets for use in a regulated environment, with additional applications expected to become possible beginning in early 2027, including tokenized collateral.

The infrastructure is designed to connect financial instruments and payments while addressing legal certainty, governance and interoperability. B3 has not confirmed that the system will launch with tokenized stocks, 24/7 trading or instant settlement.

“We are advancing with our platform, with the stablecoin and with tokenized instruments in Brazil,” Felipe Paiva, B3’s director of client and retail relations, said. “At the beginning of next year, we will be prepared to build new use cases, including tokenized collateral.”

B3 is also testing B3RL, a stablecoin initiative intended to support asset tokenization and capital-markets efficiency. Testing of B3RL’s infrastructure began in the second quarter of 2026.

The exchange’s work is developing as Brazil’s Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM) prepares a pilot program for securities activity on distributed-ledger networks. The proposed program could cover the issuance, distribution, trading, recording, custody, central deposit and settlement of stocks, debentures, receivables certificates and investment-fund units.

In 2023, B3 introduced tokenized debentures that remained recorded in its fixed-income depository while being replicated on blockchain technology.

The company has identified financial settlement, interoperability and legal certainty as challenges for tokenization projects. B3’s work is intended to connect market participants and support new ways to structure, trade and distribute assets.

The early-2027 target indicates when B3 expects its infrastructure to be ready for broader use cases. It does not confirm approval or launch of a fully operational tokenized-equities market.
