Standard Chartered has launched institutional custody for Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger, expanding access to bank-held stablecoin infrastructure for professional clients.

The service is provided through Standard Chartered’s DIFC branch, which is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority. The bank is also working with Ripple and LMAX Group on plans to accept RLUSD as eligible collateral for designated LMAX products.

Under the proposed arrangement, Standard Chartered would extend its collateral-mirroring model to LMAX Group. Institutions would not need to transfer RLUSD directly to the trading platform; instead, the stablecoin’s value could be mapped to LMAX Group for trading purposes.

The planned functionality has not fully launched. It still requires final documentation, testing, internal approvals and regulatory preparation before implementation.
