> The company expects to complete the process by year-end after creditors agreed to reduce debt obligations and extend maturities.

Getty Images plans to file for a prepackaged Chapter 11 restructuring in the coming weeks, with creditor agreements and up to $533 million in new equity aimed at reducing its debt burden and completing the process by year-end.

Getty family members and affiliates of Koch Equity Development will provide the equity investment under the restructuring support agreement. The deal includes $143 million in financing.

Holders representing 83.5% of Getty’s unsecured bonds agreed to retire $270 million in outstanding senior unsecured notes. Investors holding about 89% of its secured bonds and term loans, along with all lenders under its revolving credit facility, agreed to lower interest obligations and extend the maturities of secured debt.

Getty licenses photographs, videos and illustrations to news organizations, advertisers and businesses. Its licensing business faces pressure as AI chatbots allow users to create visual content at a fraction of the cost of traditional licensing.

Shutterstock may also face pressure from AI-generated images and video, while Adobe Stock faces similar substitution risks. Getty expects to complete its restructuring by year-end.
