> Electric vehicles reached a 6.1% U.S. market share, their highest since the third quarter of 2025. Tesla still sold more than half of all EVs in the quarter.

U.S. electric vehicle sales rose for a third consecutive quarter, reaching a 6.1% market share—the highest since the third quarter of 2025—as more competitive prices and higher gasoline costs renewed consumer interest.

Sales had fallen after tax credits were canceled last year. The latest increase marks a rebound across three consecutive quarters.

Tesla sales declined 20% year over year, though the company still accounted for more than half of all U.S. EV sales in the third quarter.

Sales of the Toyota bZ and Lexus RZ about doubled after refreshed models arrived at dealerships late last year. The updates brought larger batteries, more powerful motors, faster charging and Tesla-style charging ports.
