> The repurchase covered 5.42% of issued ordinary shares. Metaplanet said it aims to increase book value per share.

Metaplanet has completed its first ordinary-share buyback, spending $122.4 million for 73.98 million shares, equal to 5.42% of its issued stock. The Japan-listed Bitcoin (BTC) treasury company said the repurchase is intended to increase book value per share.

The completed purchase was measured in three ways: its $122.4 million cost, the 73.98 million shares acquired and their 5.42% share of issued ordinary shares. Those figures describe the scale of the company’s first buyback. The stated aim is to raise book value per share as the company’s reason for the capital move.

Metaplanet has no more than 9.2% of issued shares remaining available for repurchase. That remaining capacity is expressed against the same issued-share base as the 5.42% already bought back. The two percentages distinguish the completed portion from the further amount available. Metaplanet is a Japan-listed Bitcoin treasury company, and the buyback covers ordinary shares with the stated objective of lifting book value per share.
