> Under its 2027–2029 strategy, AXA expects AI to generate €500 million to €700 million in recurring annual pre-tax benefits by 2029. In June 2026, the company said 400 AI use cases were in the scaling phase.

Large enterprise and government processes rebuilt around artificial intelligence remain “basically close to zero,” Accenture global chief technology officer Marc Warner said at a virtual panel, framing organizational change as a barrier to broader AI adoption.

Warner made the estimate during a discussion that included Matthieu Caillat, AXA’s group chief technology and AI officer; Greg Ulrich, Mastercard’s chief AI and data officer; and Marjorie Janiewicz of Mistral AI. The panel addressed workflow redesign and internal change as organizations seek to get more value from AI. Warner’s figure was his assessment, not a measured industry count.

Warner described companywide AI transformation as a “politics projects” challenge, contrasting it with the technology work involved in developing AI systems. His remarks put the focus on changing how organizations operate alongside building AI tools.

Ulrich said speeding up one stage in an 80-step workflow can leave the next stage with a backlog. He described Mastercard’s product development process as being redesigned around smaller teams and faster turnaround. “It’s the rethinking. It’s the remapping,” Ulrich said.

AXA’s 2027–2029 strategy sets a target of €500 million to €700 million in annual recurring pre-tax benefits from AI by 2029. The strategy calls for embedding data and AI across the company’s value chain. The target is a projection, not a benefit AXA has already reported achieving.

In June 2026, AXA said it had identified and tested 400 AI use cases that were in the scaling phase. The company’s target and use-case count show the scale of its stated AI plans, while the panel discussion centered on the organizational work involved in applying AI across existing processes.
