> The company expects an additional noncash impairment charge of $175 million to $205 million and targets closing within 60 days of the Oct. 15 announcement.

Fortune Brands Innovations agreed Oct. 15 to sell Fiberon, its composite decking business, to a subsidiary of Inteplast Group Corporation for $160 million in cash, less than the expected impairment charge.

Fortune Brands expects an additional noncash impairment charge of $175 million to $205 million tied to the agreement. It had recorded $228.7 million in impairment charges for the Fiberon asset group as of June 27, 2026. The new estimate is separate from those previously recorded charges.

Fortune Brands expects to complete the sale within 60 days, pending regulatory approval. The agreement includes Fiberon manufacturing sites in New London, North Carolina, where the business is headquartered, and Meridian, Idaho.

Inteplast plans to place Fiberon in its World-Pak division and Inteplast Building Products unit. John Stevens, president of World-Pak, described the planned acquisition as an “expansion within the decking category.”

Fortune Brands began a strategic review of Fiberon in May 2026 to focus resources on higher-return opportunities. The company acquired Fiberon in 2018 for about $470 million.
