> Most Neynar employees are expected to join the new operator, while co-founders Rish and Manan will depart.

Network School will take over Farcaster, bringing the social network’s app, protocol code and related products under a new operator as the platform moves toward a rules-based model.

On Oct. 15, Neynar co-founder Rish announced the transition. Most of Neynar’s employees are expected to join Network School and continue development, while Rish and fellow co-founder Manan will leave.

Under the proposed framework, users would choose whether to accept a social contract. Those who accept would receive an onchain NFT credential; those who decline would retain read-only access. Their keys, funds, follow lists and posts would remain portable to other clients.

The conduct rules cover hate speech, death threats, scams, repeated provocation, stalking and harassment, as well as falsely presenting AI-generated content as human-made. Network School also plans AI-assisted moderation and gradual human verification.

The planned transfer marks Farcaster’s second ownership change this year. Merkle Manufactory sold the network to Neynar in January, less than nine months earlier.
