Anthropic’s rapid revenue growth has not ended debate over what its potential IPO could be worth. Some existing shareholders and prospective investors are discussing a valuation near $1.5 trillion, about 25% below the roughly $2 trillion expectation tied to a possible November listing.

At an Oct. 14 investor meeting in San Francisco, Anthropic put third-quarter revenue at $16.8 billion, up about 45% from the prior quarter. The company also reported an adjusted profit for the period.

Revenue for the first nine months reached $33.1 billion, compared with about $4.6 billion for all of 2025. Third-quarter revenue added more than $5 billion, but the quarter’s growth rate was far below the nearly 150% increase recorded in the second quarter.

The figures show both the scale of Anthropic’s expansion and the slower pace of its latest growth. For investors considering a valuation in the trillions, the question is whether revenue can keep rising quickly enough to support that price as growth cools.

Anthropic has committed to spend at least $518 billion over the next decade on cloud services, computing and infrastructure. Adjusted profit is a positive signal, but it does not by itself show whether cash generation can cover those long-term commitments. Computing costs and the adjustments used to calculate profit also factor into the investment case.

OpenAI has ruled out an IPO in 2026 while it addresses AI safety, alignment and governance. A listing could come as early as 2027, following [OpenAI’s decision to rule out a 2026 listing](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/investing/29143>).

If Anthropic moves ahead with a November offering, its pricing and investor response would test how public-market buyers weigh rapid revenue growth against the cost of building AI infrastructure. The valuation currently under discussion is about $1.5 trillion.
