> The $482 billion total covers activity through Sept. 30; the account, card and payout announcements came on or after Oct. 15.

Stablecoin payments totaled $482 billion through Sept. 30, up 45% from a year earlier, before Mastercard, Stripe and Visa announced new account, card and payout services in mid-October.

Stablecoin supply stood at $305 billion at the end of September, just 0.4% above its level at the start of 2026. Payment transaction counts climbed 71% over the nine-month period as the average payment declined. Payment value and counts track activity over time, while supply is measured at a single point. The service announcements came after the Sept. 30 data cutoff, and the companies did not disclose transaction volumes for the new offerings. Their timing means they do not explain the increase measured through September.

Mastercard and BVNK launched the Global Money Platform on Oct. 15. Banks, fintechs and businesses can use one integration to offer accounts with fiat currency and stablecoin balances, convert between them, issue stablecoin-linked cards and send payouts to local bank accounts. Nuvei, Marqeta, Ontop, Bolt Group and Almond FinTech are among the first integrators.

“We believe the future of commerce will be built on interoperability across multiple forms of money,” said Raj Dhamodharan, Mastercard’s executive vice president for blockchain and digital assets.

Mastercard expects the platform’s coverage to reach more than 40 currencies across more than 200 countries and territories in 2027.

Plasma is the design partner for Stripe’s planned multi-currency card experience. The planned cards are designed to support U.S. dollars, euros, Brazilian reais, Mexican pesos and Colombian pesos, alongside Open USD (OUSD) and eligible stablecoins. The announcement did not give a launch date.

Visa moved stablecoin prefunding for Visa Direct from pilot to commercial deployment, with Inyo Global as the first enabler. Eligible businesses can use USD Coin (USDC) to prefund cross-border payouts in near real time. Vira Platonova, global head of Visa Direct, said, “The next chapter for stablecoins is adoption.”
