> P4 equipment installation and P5 construction are at different stages. Samsung's second-quarter outlook projected faster demand growth for server DRAM, enterprise SSDs and HBM in the second half of 2026.

Samsung Electronics is installing production equipment at P4 and continuing construction at P5 in Pyeongtaek, South Korea, as it expands chip capacity amid tight memory supply.

The projects are at different stages. P4’s installed equipment must enter production before it adds chip output, while P5 remains under construction after work resumed.

In its second-quarter outlook, Samsung projected demand for server DRAM, enterprise solid-state drives and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) to accelerate in the second half of 2026. It also projected that memory supply would remain tight despite efforts to increase production. Samsung began commercial shipments of HBM4 in February 2026.
