> The grocer also reaffirmed its 2026 guidance. Its three long-term targets exclude the pending Giant Eagle acquisition.

Kroger set a roughly 3% comparable sales growth target for 2029, excluding fuel and pharmacy, and reaffirmed its 2026 outlook Tuesday, outlining plans to expand digital sales and reduce operating costs.

At its Oct. 20 Investor Day, the grocer set two more long-term targets. For fiscal 2027 through 2029, it aims for compound annual growth of 3% to 6% in adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, or EBITDA, and 7% to 11% in adjusted net earnings per share. All three targets exclude Kroger’s pending acquisition of Giant Eagle.

Kroger kept its 2026 forecast for identical sales growth excluding fuel at 0.2% to 0.8%. It also maintained guidance of $5.10 to $5.30 in adjusted earnings per share and $5 billion to $5.2 billion in adjusted first-in, first-out operating profit. In September, Kroger lowered its sales forecast from 1% to 2% while leaving the earnings and operating profit ranges in place.

The company plans to invest in fresh food and meals while increasing Our Brands penetration and Boost membership. It also aims to grow e-commerce and retail media revenue. Kroger expects changes to sourcing, purchasing and operations to generate savings that can help fund those priorities, with technology and artificial intelligence improving execution.

Kroger operates more than 2,700 stores and has about 409,000 employees. Its [plan to cut about 3,000 corporate roles over three years](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/32013>) is intended to lower costs as the company invests in prices and frontline workers.

The new adjusted net earnings-per-share goal replaces an 8% to 11% total shareholder return target that included dividend yield. Kroger’s fiscal 2027-through-2029 growth targets set the longer-term benchmarks alongside its unchanged 2026 guidance.
