> The combined protocol is scheduled to launch Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. ET (Thursday, Oct. 22, at 00:00 UTC). Aerodrome’s AERO token converts at 1:1, while Velodrome’s VELO token converts at 0.044 new AERO per token.

Aero plans to unite Aerodrome and Velodrome across seven networks Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. ET (Thursday, Oct. 22, at 00:00 UTC), replacing weekly emissions votes with rewards linked to projected revenue.

The combined protocol is scheduled to launch on Base, Ethereum mainnet, OP Mainnet, Arc, Ink, Arbitrum and Robinhood Chain. Token holders will use Predictive Allocation to direct rewards to pools and receive income from the pools they select. Initially, each position must wait 47 hours between allocation changes.

The change replaces the protocols’ ve(3,3) model, in which holders voted weekly on how emissions were distributed. veAERO and veVELO positions will convert to sAERO, which can be transferred and will not rebase. Converted positions retain their remaining term, rounded up to a whole week; permanently locked positions become maximum-term stakes that cannot be unstaked before expiry. TokenPost previously outlined [the cross-chain merger plan](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/25951>).

Aerodrome’s AERO token will convert to new AERO at a 1:1 ratio. Velodrome’s VELO token will convert at a rate of 0.044 new AERO per VELO. Aerodrome holders are allocated about 94.5% of the new tokens, with Velodrome holders receiving about 5.5%. People holding tokens in self-custody must use an upgrade portal, and the conversion cannot be reversed; exchanges will handle conversions for tokens held on their platforms.

Aero’s Gauge Caps will set a reward limit for each pool based on projected revenue. Aero’s long-term target is for average rewards across the exchange to equal about 1.2 times projected revenue, with AERO above a pool’s cap left unminted. Aero estimates annual issuance at about 8% of supply at current revenue, compared with a current rate of about 11%. The stated annualized inflation cap is 20%.

During four weeks in September, veAERO holders received $6.1 million in trading fees and $8.9 million in Liquidity and Launch Payments. For the same period, fixed emissions paid to liquidity providers were valued at $10.5 million. The protocols’ combined cumulative revenue was about $580 million by mid-October, including about $510 million for Aerodrome and $69.8 million for Velodrome across several networks.

The merger was announced in November 2025 with an initial target of the second quarter of 2026 for a launch on Ethereum mainnet and Arc. The target later moved to September and then October as the audit period was extended. The first Predictive Allocation round is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 22, at noon ET (16:00 UTC); sAERO staked before that round is scheduled to begin earning rewards in it.
