> Sales fell 2% to SEK 9,012 million as the Forest & Garden division faced weaker demand in Europe.

Husqvarna Group swung to a SEK 334 million third-quarter operating loss as falling sales and weak European demand for garden equipment reversed a year-earlier profit.

Net sales totaled SEK 9,012 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, down 2% from SEK 9,204 million a year earlier. Organic sales fell 5%, while currency changes had a positive 3% impact. Husqvarna released its January-September results Wednesday at 1 a.m. ET (05:00 UTC).

The operating result compared with income of SEK 141 million in the third quarter of 2025. Husqvarna’s reported operating margin fell to negative 3.7% from positive 1.5%.

The latest result included SEK 88 million in items affecting comparability, primarily related to cost-saving initiatives. Excluding those items, the operating loss was SEK 246 million, compared with operating income of SEK 140 million a year earlier. The corresponding margin was negative 2.7%, versus positive 1.5%.

Husqvarna Forest & Garden had the steepest divisional decline, with organic sales down 10%. Drought across much of Europe and weak consumer demand, including in Germany and France, weighed on the division. Gardena’s organic sales rose 8%, while Husqvarna Construction sales were unchanged.

The net loss widened to SEK 404 million from SEK 10 million a year earlier. Diluted earnings per share were negative SEK 0.70, compared with negative SEK 0.02 in the prior-year quarter.

Free operating cash flow was SEK 2,422 million, nearly matching the year-earlier SEK 2,423 million. Net debt stood at SEK 9.4 billion, compared with SEK 9.9 billion a year earlier.

Gross cost savings totaled about SEK 935 million in the first nine months of 2026, including about SEK 305 million in the third quarter. Husqvarna Group CEO Glen Instone said, “When consumer sentiment recovers, particularly in Europe, we will be well positioned to capture growth and improve earnings.” The company’s target is SEK 3 billion in gross cost savings by the end of 2028.
