eBay plans to cut about 9% of its workforce as it simplifies operations and shifts resources toward faster-growing business areas, following another round of cuts earlier this year.

Chief Executive Jamie Iannone outlined the plan in a staff memo, and eBay confirmed the cuts on Oct. 21. The memo says affected employees will be notified in the coming days, but it does not set an effective date for the reductions.

“Our strategy is working,” Iannone wrote. An eBay spokesperson described the move as a step toward “aligning our teams and resources with our top strategic priorities.”

eBay had approximately 12,300 employees worldwide at the end of 2025, including about 7,200 in the United States. In February 2026, the company announced plans to eliminate about 800 jobs, or 6% of its workforce.
