# ByteDance Commercial AI Unit Lost Two Senior Leaders in July

ByteDance’s commercial generative AI unit lost two senior leaders in July, while 文石磊 may take a partner role at robotics startup 章鱼动力 after leading commercial AI engineering.

Former commercial GenAI department head 彭冰月 left in July and later joined Google. Former China lead 袁泽寰 also departed that month and turned to world-model entrepreneurship.

文石磊 joined ByteDance in 2021 and led R&D for its commercial GenAI unit. He first worked on digital humans and extended reality before leading engineering for generative AI in advertising and other commercial uses. Before ByteDance, he joined Baidu in 2011, led visual technology and served as chief architect for its smart city division. He won Baidu’s highest award twice.

章鱼动力 was founded in January 2026 by 都大龙, a former technology executive at 地平线 and 鉴智机器人. It develops robot world models, dexterous hands and data-collection systems. The company had raised nearly 1 billion yuan by June.

On Oct. 15, 章鱼动力 confirmed co-founder 梁柱锦 would leave. 梁 led the startup’s post-training and data work.
