> Eagle Bancorp, the parent of Bethesda-based EagleBank, expects average loans and deposits to grow in Q4 2026 and continue growing in 2027.

Eagle Bancorp projected a 2027 net interest margin of 2.77% to 3.05%, while forecasting higher average loan and deposit balances in Q4 2026 and continued growth in 2027.

The company’s Q4 2026 outlook puts net interest margin at 2.65% to 2.78%. Average loans, excluding loans held for sale, are projected at $6.681 billion to $7.023 billion for the quarter. Average deposits are forecast at $8.713 billion to $9.160 billion.

For 2027, Eagle Bancorp projects average loans of $6.938 billion to $7.668 billion and average deposits of $8.546 billion to $9.470 billion. These are outlook ranges for average balances, not realized results. The loan forecasts exclude loans held for sale.

Net interest margin was 2.60% in the third quarter, up from 2.52% in the second quarter. Average loans in Q3 2026 were $6.524 billion, while average deposits were $8.577 billion. Eagle Bancorp’s [third-quarter results](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/37723>) also showed period-end total loans, including loans held for sale, of $6.6 billion at Sept. 30, down 1.4% from the prior quarter-end. Deposits at that date were $8 billion, a decline of $151.1 million, or 1.8%. Those period-end figures measure a different point in time than the average balances in the outlook.

Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Eric Newell cited the Sept. 30 forward curve, investment-portfolio repositioning, loan mix and market rates as factors in the 2027 margin range. About $350 million in portfolio assets currently earning roughly 2% are expected to run off next year and could be reinvested at higher yields.

On the Oct. 22 earnings call, Newell said, “Looking ahead, we expect average loans and deposits to grow in the fourth quarter and continue growing in 2027.”
