> The Swiss base will support banks and asset managers working on Bitcoin infrastructure, with consulting engagements available to institutions across Europe.

Blockstream opened an office in Lugano, Switzerland, and launched consulting for financial institutions Friday, Oct. 23, offering banks and asset managers help designing Bitcoin (BTC) infrastructure from evaluation through deployment.

The service, known as Blockstream Consulting Services, will help institutions assess projects and carry them through implementation. Its work can include technical planning, system architecture, integration and implementation. Projects may involve systems for issuing tokenized assets and settling transactions confidentially, as well as related financial infrastructure.

From Lugano, the company plans to serve clients in Zurich, Geneva and Zug. It will use the Swiss office to support European operations, build client relationships and pursue partnerships with finance and technology groups in the region. Consulting engagements are available to institutions across Europe. Blockstream casts the move as a lasting commitment to Switzerland and one step in its effort to support institutional Bitcoin use across markets.

Blockstream Chief Marketing Officer Peter Bain called Switzerland an important market, citing its banking tradition and regulatory framework for digital assets. Bain said the company seeks to provide regional expertise in markets where demand for Bitcoin infrastructure exists. He said the new office and consulting business would bring tailored Bitcoin solutions to financial institutions across Europe.

The consulting teams will draw on work across financial technology, security, cryptography and protocol engineering, giving institutions access to technical staff from early evaluation to rollout. Blockstream's technology portfolio includes the Liquid Network sidechain, Elements, Simplicity, Core Lightning, the Jade hardware wallet and Blockstream App.

“The next phase of Bitcoin adoption is its integration into existing financial systems,” said Adam Back, Blockstream's co-founder and CEO. “Our extensive experience in Bitcoin cryptography, protocol development and engineering gives Blockstream the technical expertise to address the complexities of integrating Bitcoin into traditional financial infrastructure.”

Founded in 2014, Blockstream builds products and services for Bitcoin custody, payments, settlement, asset issuance and self-custody. In 2026, it added Lightning support to Jade and launched Simplicity smart contracts on Liquid.
