> Revolut cited figures showing companies averaged 11 years old at IPO in 2025, up from 6.9 years in 2014.

Revolut and asset manager Carne Group formed Revolut Ventures on Oct. 26, planning a 2027 app launch that would let eligible customers invest in private technology companies as firms stay private longer.

The planned service will be available through the Revolut app. The company said the venture is intended to connect customers with private technology businesses before they reach public markets, where shares trade on exchanges.

Revolut cited figures showing the average age of companies at their initial public offering rose from 6.9 years in 2014 to 11 years in 2025. It also cited a decline in U.S.-listed companies, from 7,000 in 2000 to 3,900 in 2025.

Revolut’s stated rationale is that companies are creating more value before they list, while access to private-market opportunities has largely been concentrated among institutions and ultra-high-net-worth investors. The company is positioning the venture as a way for eligible retail customers to access private companies through its app.

Rolandas Juteika, head of Revolut Wealth and Trading (EEA), said the venture aims to lower barriers that have kept retail investors out of private companies. Investments through the platform are expected to be harder to sell than publicly traded shares, and investors face a substantial risk of losing capital.

The venture is planned to launch in 2027.
