> Apollo will buy GPU clusters and related equipment and lease them to SpaceX, with the arrangements set to begin when the GPUs arrive in the first half of 2027.

SpaceX has entered a binding financing lease commitment with Apollo Global Management that carries expected principal payments of $40 billion, supporting the company’s access to large-scale GPU equipment for AI computing.

Apollo will purchase GPU clusters and related equipment, then lease those assets to SpaceX. The expected $40 billion is the total principal payment amount for the lease arrangements. The deal ties Apollo’s hardware purchases to SpaceX’s access to the equipment through a leasing structure.

That structure provides financing support for SpaceX to obtain large-scale AI computing equipment, while Apollo takes the role of purchaser and lessor.

The leases are scheduled to begin when the GPUs are delivered in the first half of 2027. That puts the start of the arrangements alongside the planned equipment deliveries, rather than immediately upon signing.

SpaceX shares rose 0.94% in premarket trading on Oct. 26. The agreement’s next stated milestone is GPU delivery in the first half of 2027, when the lease arrangements are due to start. The $40 billion figure covers expected principal payments across those arrangements.
