> The company had 10,200 active earning coaches, down 47.7% from a year earlier. It expects fourth-quarter revenue of $55 million to $75 million.

Medifast, Inc. posted a wider third-quarter loss as revenue fell 19.4% to $72.05 million, with fewer active earning coaches weighing on its metabolic health business.

The company recorded a net loss of $17.51 million, or $1.57 per diluted share, for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026. A year earlier, it lost $2.26 million, or $0.21 per diluted share, on revenue of $89.41 million.

Medifast’s adjusted net loss was $2.11 million, or $0.19 per diluted share. That measure excludes $15.41 million in Catalyst restructuring and related charges from the quarterly results.

The number of active earning coaches dropped 47.7% from a year earlier to 10,200. Revenue per active earning coach rose 54.1% to $7,064, up from $4,585, but the smaller coach base drove the overall revenue decline. Medifast also cited pressure on client acquisition, including the rapid adoption of GLP-1 weight-loss medications.

The coach count had also fallen in the second quarter, when Medifast had 11,700 active earning coaches, down 48.7% from a year earlier. Second-quarter revenue was $76.38 million, a 27.6% year-over-year decline. The latest results show that higher revenue per coach has yet to offset the drop in the number of coaches.

“Revenue came in line with our guidance, and coach productivity improved year-over-year for the fourth consecutive quarter,” Medifast CEO Nick Johnson said.

For the fourth quarter of 2026, Medifast expects revenue of $55 million to $75 million and earnings of $0 to $0.25 per share. Its full-year forecast calls for revenue of $280 million to $300 million and a loss of $1.80 to $2.05 per share. On an adjusted basis, it expects a loss of $0.45 to $0.70 per share.
