> Twenty-three percent of 478 participants picked Taiwan, while 35% said their companies plan to expand into more Asia-Pacific markets.

A FedEx survey of 478 semiconductor industry participants found Taiwan was the most frequently selected market for expected semiconductor-demand growth over the next three years, chosen by 23% of respondents. The result underscores Taiwan’s place in global chip supply.

FedEx surveyed participants at SEMICON Taiwan in September. Southeast Asia followed Taiwan, selected by 21% of respondents.

Taiwan’s semiconductor exports approached $170 billion in 2025, the highest total globally. Its foundries accounted for about 60% of worldwide foundry output. Artificial intelligence was the fastest-growing driver of chip demand, and AI accelerators represented about 20% of global chip sales in 2024.

The survey also highlighted business risks and expansion plans. Thirty percent of participants identified geopolitical disruption as the biggest challenge to business growth, while 35% expected their companies to expand production into more Asia-Pacific markets over the next three years.

Faster international shipping was the leading logistics priority, named by 44% of respondents. FedEx has started daily direct flights between Taiwan and South Korea and is expanding its Taoyuan transfer center to improve handling efficiency and capacity.
