“While a slower transaction environment led to a more measured pace of originations during the quarter, our investment backlog is up meaningfully from last quarter,” CEO Kort Schnabel said.

Ares Capital reported about $2.5 billion in investment backlog as of Oct. 22. From Oct. 1 through Oct. 22, it made about $1.1 billion in new commitments, with about $855 million funded. The company said those backlog transactions were likely to close, subject to terms and documentation.
