> The review covers Capital IQ and associated data businesses, and a separation is one possible outcome. The company has not set a timetable.

S&P Global lifted its 2026 earnings target and opened a review of businesses tied to Capital IQ, putting a possible separation of a major data unit on the table.

On Oct. 27, the company raised its adjusted diluted earnings-per-share range to $17.70-$17.95, from $17.50-$17.75. S&P Global linked the higher outlook to expectations for stronger revenue and margin expansion.

The full-year forecast covers continuing operations and assumes Market Intelligence contributes throughout 2026 under its current structure. S&P Global also expects revenue growth of 7.4% to 8.4%, organic constant-currency revenue growth of 7.5% to 8.5%, and adjusted operating-margin expansion of 75 to 100 basis points.

Adjusted EPS is a non-GAAP measure, meaning it is calculated outside generally accepted accounting principles. S&P Global’s adjusted figure excludes amortization of acquisition-related intangible assets and costs related to acquisitions and dispositions. The continuing-operations outlook follows the July 1 spin-off of Mobility Global; prior periods were recast on that basis.

For the quarter ended Sept. 30, revenue increased 7% from a year earlier to $3.678 billion. Adjusted diluted EPS rose 9% to $4.58.

The review includes Capital IQ and related data businesses that comprise most of Kensho Data & Platforms, a unit within Market Intelligence. S&P Global expects to keep RatingsDirect, RatingsXpress and Enterprise Solutions. The company has not finalized the review’s scope.

President and CEO Martina Cheung described the businesses under review as “strong” and said they have “significant opportunities ahead of them as technology changes how customers access, analyze, and use information.” The review has no set timetable, and S&P Global has not assured that it will lead to a transaction.

Cheung said the earliest meaningful update could come during the company’s February earnings call. That is an update point, not a deadline to complete the review.
