Adjusted diluted earnings per share, a non-GAAP measure, came to $9.36, missing estimates by 14 cents. The figure was 10.4% lower than in the year-earlier quarter.

GAAP diluted earnings per share were $8.59, compared with $1.02 in the same quarter a year earlier.
