> GM expects Nasdaq trading to begin Nov. 17, after its final NYSE session. Hilton’s planned transfer is scheduled for Nov. 5.

General Motors plans to move its stock listing to Nasdaq on Nov. 17, a shift that will make the automaker eligible for possible inclusion in the Nasdaq-100 but will not guarantee a place.

GM expects its final New York Stock Exchange session to end at the market close Nov. 16. Trading on the Nasdaq Global Select Market is scheduled to begin Nov. 17 under the existing GM ticker. Shareholders do not need to take action.

The automaker tied the transfer to its technology strategy and its aim of creating value for shareholders. “GM’s customer-focused, technology-driven strategy is creating value for our stockholders, making Nasdaq a natural home for our listing as we grow,” said Paul Jacobson, GM’s executive vice president and chief financial officer.

The index comprises 100 large, nonfinancial companies listed on Nasdaq. A listing on the exchange is a threshold, but companies also must meet the index’s eligibility and ranking requirements. Newly transferred listings are normally evaluated after their seventh trading day and typically may be added after 15 trading days, subject to those requirements.

A faster entry route requires a company to rank among the index’s top 40 current constituents by full market capitalization. GM’s exchange change would make its shares eligible for evaluation, but does not ensure selection.

Hilton expects its NYSE trading to end at the market close Nov. 4, then Nasdaq trading under its existing HLT ticker to begin at the market open Nov. 5. Hilton has described Nasdaq as a fit for its growth plans. Its [planned transfer to Nasdaq](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/35868>) was announced Oct. 20, a week before GM announced its move.

“Nasdaq is closely aligned with our growth ambitions,” said Hilton President and CEO Chris Nassetta. The transfer is not expected to change Hilton’s business strategy or capital-allocation priorities. Both companies plan to retain their current tickers, and neither requires shareholders to take action.

Hilton’s expected Nasdaq start comes first, on Nov. 5, followed by GM’s scheduled move on Nov. 17.
