> The Cowboy Ventures-led seed round brings the startup’s total funding to $11 million. Its platform manages cloud access, permissions and spending for AI agents.

Mintive raised $7 million in a seed round announced Oct. 29, bringing its total funding to $11 million as it builds software for companies seeking to control how AI agents use cloud services.

Cowboy Ventures led the financing. Coatue, Operator Collective and Hustle Fund also participated. Angel investors include former Google chief scientist Jeff Dean, who co-founded Discovery Loop; OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy; and Okta co-founder Frederic Kerrest.

Mintive’s platform lets information technology teams set rules for the cloud services AI agents can reach and the actions they can perform. It can route requests to different AI models, set spending limits, assign identities and permissions to agents, and track their activity across a company. Businesses can also use the software to create agents for tasks that run over time.

The company says more than 50 enterprise customers have used its product since it launched in February. Those customers include Ro, Modern Treasury, the University of Michigan, Coursera, Apax and Stability AI.

CEO Jiquan Ngiam was a founding engineer at Coursera before working on neural networks at Google Brain. CTO Vijay Vasudevan helped create TensorFlow while at Google Brain.

The platform enters a market that includes agent-management products from Amazon, Microsoft, OpenAI and Anthropic. In September, [Baselayer raised $35 million for an AI-agent identity platform](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/24954>).

Cowboy Ventures managing partner Aileen Lee said companies need more oversight tools for AI systems. “AI is going to be able to power incredible things, but we need more infrastructure that’s going to give us governance and visibility and control,” Lee said.
