Alphabet’s quarterly filing lists $98.5 billion in contingent commitments tied to data center leases, power equipment and AI chips, alongside a separate pool of obligations exceeding $1 trillion.

Alphabet’s CFO disclosed the larger amount during an investor call Wednesday. It covers purchase commitments, future lease payments and other obligations. The filing’s contingent figure rose about $23 billion from the previous quarter.

The filing describes guarantees for data center lease payments, support for partners acquiring power equipment and potential repurchases of AI chip systems from customers when certain conditions apply.

Google Cloud’s backlog — contracts awaiting fulfillment — increased during the quarter. A joint venture in which Alphabet holds a stake accounted for more than one-third of that increase.

Google Cloud generated $30.71 billion in third-quarter revenue, up 103% from a year earlier. Alphabet’s total revenue was $127.58 billion.
