> Co-design is underway, with production expected in 2028. MediaTek did not name the customer or disclose expected revenue.

MediaTek said its second customer for custom data-center AI accelerators is not Chinese, adding a new detail about a program the company expects to reach production in 2028.

The company disclosed the customer’s status during its Oct. 30 third-quarter investor conference and said co-design work is underway. The customer remains unnamed, and MediaTek did not disclose expected revenue from the program.

MediaTek had previously disclosed the second cloud ASIC program and its 2028 revenue-recognition timing in [earlier coverage of the customer announcement](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/44392>). The latest disclosure adds the customer’s non-Chinese status. MediaTek gave no specific quarter for production in 2028.

The program adds to a data-center business whose first AI accelerator began small-volume shipments in September. MediaTek forecast $2.5 billion in data-center revenue for the fourth quarter of 2026; that figure covers the business and was not identified as revenue from the new customer.

In July, MediaTek set a goal of capturing 15% to 20% of an $80 billion AI accelerator market in 2027, up from its previous 10% to 15% target. Chief Financial Officer David Ku said the revenue target discussed at the time was based on the first project.

MediaTek reported third-quarter revenue of NT$168.058 billion, up 18.3% from a year earlier, and a gross margin of 46.3%. Those are companywide results, not figures for its AI accelerator business. Co-design on the second customer’s program is underway, with production expected in 2028.
