Wonder's funding has topped $3 billion, and its valuation is above $9 billion as the food technology company grows its restaurant network and moves toward an IPO.

Serial entrepreneur Marc Lore founded Wonder, which counts Google Ventures among its investors. Its business combines food locations, delivery and automated kitchens. Ingredients are prepared centrally and sent to local sites, where workers finish meals. Wonder has expanded to 170 locations through acquisitions and spent more than $1 billion on restaurant and food businesses.

Those purchases include Grubhub for $650 million and Blue Apron for $103 million. Wonder also bought three New York City restaurants and brands or platforms including Meal Delivery, Zardock, Click, Blue Ribbon Chicken, Mighty Quinn’s BBQ and Salt & Straw. In late 2025, it paid $186 million for Spice, a kitchen automation maker.

Spice developed the Infinite Makeline, a system that can use 68 pre-prepared ingredients and produce as many as 500 meals an hour. Lore said the system can reduce labor costs by 20%. Wonder is preparing to expand the automated line beyond main dishes to beverages and sauces.

Wonder's central kitchens prepare sauces, proteins and other ingredients before sending them to local sites for final cooking. Locations use high-speed ovens, water baths and automated fryers. Culinary engineers and food scientists develop cooking workflows, including methods for preparing steak quickly, and contributed to the Infinite Makeline. Wonder says its equipment runs on electricity, without gas or open flames. Its peak-hour setup calls for 15 workers at a location, with a delivery target of 30 minutes.

Wonder plans to introduce a creator-focused restaurant platform in November. Individuals would pay $10 a month to build food brands and receive a share of revenue. The company expects millions of creators to join over the next five to 10 years.

Wonder has also projected a $40 billion valuation for 2028.
