> The Japanese memory maker expects 2.5 trillion yen in October-December revenue after sales climbed 40.3% in the prior quarter, while operating profit is projected to remain nearly flat.

Kioxia shares fell 15.78% to 11,345 yen at the Tokyo close Monday as the Japanese memory maker forecast October-December revenue growth of 0.8% from the previous quarter, after sales rose 40.3% in July-September.

The close came at 1:30 a.m. ET (06:30 UTC). The stock’s closing price was its lowest since late April and about 70% below its split-adjusted intraday high of 37,566 yen on June 22. Shares had also fallen 7.14% Friday, Oct. 30, the day Kioxia released its first-half results after the Tokyo market closed.

Kioxia projected revenue of 2.5 trillion yen for October through December, operating profit of 1.995 trillion yen, nearly unchanged from the previous quarter, and net profit attributable to its parent company of 1.36 trillion yen, up 0.3%.

For July through September, revenue rose 40.3% from the previous quarter to 2.48 trillion yen. Average selling prices increased about 25%, while bit shipments by capacity grew a little more than 10%, mainly on demand from data center and enterprise customers. Operating profit reached 1.9947 trillion yen, while net profit attributable to the parent company was 1.3557 trillion yen.

Kioxia expects October-December bit shipments to remain roughly flat. Some shipments are expected to move into January-March as the company sells more to data center and enterprise customers, whose orders have longer lead times. Its forecast assumes an exchange rate of 157 yen per dollar, compared with the previous quarter’s average of 161 yen per dollar. Kioxia expects the stronger yen to reduce adjusted operating profit by about 55 billion yen.

The company projected global NAND bit demand growth in the high end of the 10% range in 2026 and a little above 20% in 2027. Kioxia expects a supply shortage to continue through 2027 and said more than half of its 2028 bit shipments are covered by multiyear contracts.
