> The estimate applies $50 billion per gigawatt to 170 GW of projected additions from 2025 to 2030.

Goldman Sachs raised its forecast for global data center capacity in 2030 to 273 gigawatts from 217 GW, putting the projected compound annual growth rate at about 21% from roughly 103 GW in 2025. The revised outlook implies about 170 GW of new capacity over that period.

Applying an assumed $50 billion in capital spending per gigawatt to those additions yields about $8.5 trillion in potential spending.

Goldman Sachs also lifted its U.S. capacity outlook for 2030 to 152 GW from 125 GW. It projects the country will add 103 GW after 2025, roughly 60% of global additions during the same period. The bank cited rapid expansion by neocloud providers seeking to meet GPU demand as one reason for the higher U.S. forecast.
