> About 5,300 employees as of Sept. 30 put quarterly expenses at roughly $323,000 per person, including stock-based compensation.

Anthropic recorded $1.711 billion in personnel expenses during the third quarter, equal to roughly $323,000 per employee when divided by its approximately 5,300 employees at Sept. 30, with stock awards accounting for most of the total. The figure reflects a calculation using period-end headcount and includes equity compensation; it is not an average salary or take-home pay measure.

The company's amended Form S-1, filed Nov. 2, lists $1.070 billion in third-quarter stock-based compensation. That amount was about 63% of quarterly personnel expenses, making equity awards a substantial part of the reported cost.

Dividing the $1.711 billion quarterly expense by about 5,300 employees produces roughly $323,000 per person for the three-month period, or about $108,000 a month. The headcount is a Sept. 30 snapshot, not an average workforce count across the quarter, so the calculation does not show the cost for an average employee throughout those three months.

For the first nine months of 2026, Anthropic reported $4.863 billion in personnel expenses, equal to 15% of revenue. That share works out to about 15 cents of personnel expense for each dollar of revenue during the period. The nine-month figure covers a longer reporting window than the third-quarter total.

The filing also lists $32.3 billion in stock-based compensation related to restricted stock units (RSUs) that remained unrecognized as of Sept. 30. The RSU amount is separate from the $1.070 billion in stock-based compensation recorded for the third quarter.

Anthropic expects personnel expenses to increase in absolute dollars as it expands headcount. It also expects additional stock-based compensation connected with its offering, particularly when the offering is completed.

The filing put trailing-12-month revenue per employee at more than $6.6 million as of Sept. 30. TokenPost previously covered the company's [revenue-per-employee figure](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/41166>).
