> The retailer earned $62 million in the third quarter, while international net revenue fell 2.3% to $380 million.

Wayfair’s revenue rose 9.7% year over year to $3.42 billion in the third quarter, its strongest quarterly sales growth since the pandemic, as U.S. revenue climbed by double digits. Net income reached $62 million for the period ended Sept. 30, compared with a loss a year earlier.

U.S. revenue increased 11.4% to about $3 billion. International net revenue fell 2.3% to $380 million, tempering the growth from the company’s largest market.

Net income was 45 cents per share, compared with a $99 million loss, or 76 cents per share, a year earlier. Adjusted earnings per share came to 93 cents, above the 79-cent estimate. Revenue also exceeded the $3.38 billion estimate.

Wayfair’s active customer count grew 4.7% year over year to 22.2 million. Orders delivered during the quarter increased 12.2% to about 11 million.

The results came amid a sluggish housing market. Chief Financial Officer Kate Gulliver described U.S. consumer demand in the category as roughly flat and said, “that’s our [market] share momentum continuing to build.”

Wayfair has pointed to shopper loyalty, new store openings, its luxury furniture business and an emphasis on value as factors helping it attract customers. Shoppers continued to spend across the company’s value-priced and luxury offerings, Gulliver said.

For the holiday season, Wayfair plans to keep promotional activity similar to last year. Gulliver said the company feels good about the quarter’s performance and the growth flowing through to positive net income.

Wayfair shares closed about 11% higher Nov. 4.
