> The proposed LIV 2.0 would have shifted majority ownership to players and used a smaller schedule. A U.S. bankruptcy hearing is set for Nov. 5.

LIV Golf faces possible liquidation after BC Partners withdrew a proposed financing package of up to $300 million for a relaunch, following the league’s failure to secure enough player commitments.

The proposed LIV 2.0 would have made players majority owners and adopted a smaller schedule. Four players had publicly committed to the new venture: Richard Bland, Cameron Tringale, Brendan Steele and Ben Campbell.

LIV golfer Jon Rahm said Tuesday that uncertainty about the league’s future and planned format changes factored into his decision to leave. “There were too many unknowns at the time, and there’s still quite a few,” Rahm said.

LIV entered Chapter 11 in September, following the Public Investment Fund’s announcement that its financial support would end after the 2026 season. The fund had invested more than $5 billion since LIV launched in 2022.

The league is scheduled for a U.S. bankruptcy court hearing Thursday, Nov. 5. The hearing is expected to focus on liquidation of LIV’s assets, while the league’s ultimate fate remains unresolved.
