> Revenue climbed 13% year over year to $1.899 billion, while non-IFRS net income was $298 million excluding the share-issuance expense.

GlobalFoundries swung to a $270 million third-quarter IFRS net loss after a $441 million noncash share-issuance expense, while revenue advanced 13% year over year to $1.899 billion.

The company posted a loss of 49 cents per share. That compared with net income of $249 million a year earlier and $167 million in the second quarter. Revenue also increased 6% from the previous quarter.

The expense was tied to 9.9 million ordinary shares issued to the U.S. government under a Sept. 3 agreement with the U.S. Department of Commerce. The shares were priced at $37.85 each.

Excluding the share-issuance expense, GlobalFoundries’ non-IFRS results showed net income of $298 million, or 53 cents per share. Third-quarter gross margin was 30.1%, compared with a forecast of 29.5%, plus or minus 1 percentage point. Non-IFRS gross margin was 31.4%, a record, CEO Tim Breen said.

Breen said revenue from data centers and communications infrastructure reached record year-over-year growth. Revenue also grew in automotive and home and industrial Internet of Things markets. Cash, cash equivalents and marketable securities totaled $3.2 billion at quarter-end.

For the fourth quarter, GlobalFoundries forecast revenue of $2 billion, plus or minus $25 million, and IFRS earnings of 47 cents per share, plus or minus 5 cents. It projected a gross margin of 30.7%, plus or minus 1 percentage point. The board approved a $0.12-per-share dividend, scheduled for payment Jan. 14, 2027.
