Samsung is evaluating stablecoin checkout for online purchases and physical stores after bringing Solana-based USDC accounts to its U.S. wallet, extending the product’s potential use beyond transfers.

The company has not announced a launch date for the payment plans. Samsung has also left open a possible expansion beyond the United States, subject to local rules, but has not named its next markets.

Samsung’s Stablecoin Account became available Nov. 5, after the company’s original rollout target in the final week of October. The [launch of its Solana-based USDC account](<https://www.tokenpost.com/news/business/29478>) lets eligible U.S. Galaxy users buy, hold and transfer the stablecoin through Samsung Wallet without installing a separate crypto app.

The service supports about 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the United States. That figure counts devices, not customers who have opened accounts. New York residents are excluded. Users must be at least 18, have a Samsung Account and use a compatible Galaxy device running Android 13 or later. Registration includes identity checks and biometric approval.

Users can send USDC to other Samsung Wallet users or compatible external wallets without a Samsung transfer fee. Wallet providers or exchanges may charge separately. The account also supports transfers to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries, where recipients may receive local currency without opening a crypto wallet. Bank-transfer costs depend on the destination and amount.

Bastion operates the accounts and transfer services. Coinbase holds the USDC through Coinbase Prime Vault as Bastion’s sub-custodian, while Solana provides the network for transfers. Samsung has not provided a launch date for stablecoin payments at online or physical retailers.
