> The Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions profit-growth forecast increased to 10% to 12%, and both growth ranges for the Other segment moved higher.

Cardinal Health lifted its fiscal 2027 earnings outlook after first-quarter non-GAAP diluted earnings per share climbed 28% to $3.26, with profit growth in its Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions business.

Revenue for the three months ended Sept. 30 reached $67.513 billion, a 5% increase from $64.009 billion a year earlier. Net earnings attributable to Cardinal Health were $554 million, up 23%, while diluted EPS rose 27% to $2.38. Non-GAAP operating earnings grew 17% to $1 billion. Cardinal distributes pharmaceutical and specialty products and manufactures and distributes medical and laboratory products.

Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions revenue rose 6% to $62.6 billion, while segment profit increased 17% to $783 million. Global Medical Products and Distribution revenue was approximately flat at $3.2 billion, but its profit fell 28% to $33 million. The “Other” segment recorded $1.8 billion in revenue, up 7%, and $193 million in profit, up 16%.

Cardinal’s fiscal 2027 non-GAAP diluted EPS forecast now stands at $12.80 to $13.00, compared with its earlier range of $12.40 to $12.60. The revised outlook implies growth of 17% to 19% from the fiscal 2026 baseline of $10.95, which excludes a $0.31-per-share benefit from IEEPA tariff refunds. Against reported fiscal 2026 non-GAAP diluted EPS of $11.26, the company expects growth of 14% to 15%.

Cardinal also increased its fiscal 2027 profit-growth outlook for Pharmaceutical and Specialty Solutions to 10% to 12%, from 8% to 11%. For the “Other” segment, it raised its revenue-growth range to 12% to 14%, from 11% to 13%, and its profit-growth range to 17% to 20%, from 15% to 18%.

The company completed $500 million in share repurchases during the quarter. Its updated assumptions include a non-GAAP effective tax rate of 18.5% to 19.5%, down from 19% to 20%, and diluted weighted-average shares of 231 million to 232 million, compared with about 233 million previously.

“Given this quarter's strong performance and our updated expectations for the remainder of the year, we are raising our fiscal 2027 non-GAAP EPS outlook,” Cardinal Health CEO Jason Hollar said.
