> Markets anticipate tighter U.S. oversight after Democrats' election win, while the providers remain an important source of long-term bond supply.

An economist and portfolio manager at investment bank ICM expects hyperscale cloud providers to maintain their current artificial intelligence (AI) investment plans in the near term, despite market expectations of tighter U.S. oversight after Democrats' election win.

The assessment rests on the view that U.S. AI policy is unlikely to change direction substantially. Markets expect stronger oversight of the AI industry and data center construction following the Democrats' clear victory.

Hyperscale cloud providers are also an important source of long-term bond supply. Over the past two years, U.S. tech giants have become a distinct issuer group in the investment-grade bond market. For this group, the traditional relationship between credit ratings and bond spreads applies only to a limited extent.
