> The planned system would use Merkl’s rewards-forwarding technology to identify holders in lending, liquidity pools and staking, with distributions made in stablecoins.

Bitget announced Friday a partnership between its tokenized U.S. stock protocol Reality and DeFi rewards platform Merkl to identify eligible rToken holders for dividend distributions when tokens are used in supported DeFi protocols.

The planned distributions would be made in stablecoins under applicable rules. Intended uses include lending, liquidity pools and staking. The announcement did not give a launch date or identify which rTokens or protocols would qualify.

Merkl CEO and co-founder Pablo Veyrat described identifying the actual holder behind a DeFi position as a challenge. Merkl’s rewards-forwarding technology can trace rToken holdings through nested smart contracts, and the partnership plans to use that capability to identify eligible holders.

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said tokenized stocks should remain eligible for dividends when used in DeFi applications.
