Crypto commentator Austin Hilton said limited liquidity and economic uncertainty are preventing crypto markets from building a sustained rally, even as regulatory progress and positive sentiment support recovery.

In a video posted on X Oct. 21, Hilton agreed with an analysis that identified Bitcoin (BTC) strength and positive social sentiment as factors supporting the market. He separately pointed to U.S. regulatory progress, including finalized rules for payment stablecoin issuers under the GENIUS Act from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Hilton said clearer rules could ease uncertainty for institutions considering crypto investments and blockchain adoption.

Hilton cited persistent inflation, rising fuel costs and concerns about job security as pressures on investor confidence. He also discussed the Federal Reserve’s Oct. 27-28 meeting, saying interest-rate decisions could affect crypto markets.

He cited Treasury yields above 5.7% as returns institutions might compare with riskier assets such as XRP and Bitcoin. In Hilton’s view, higher yields could draw more capital toward government securities.

Hilton described bullish liquidity as capital entering the market to profit from rising prices, and said there was not enough to sustain a major rally. Hilton expects crypto prices to trade in a narrow range until investors commit more capital to riskier assets.
